چکیده

Multi-hazard risk assessment may provide comprehensive analysis of the impact multiple hazards but still needs to resolve major challenges in three aspects: (1) proper consideration hazard inter-dependency, (2) physically based modelling interactions, and (3) fully quantitative show probability loss. Compound flooding is a typical multi-hazard problem that involves concurrence drivers, e.g. heavy rainfall, extreme river flow, storm surge. These drivers result from same weather system are thus statistically inter-dependent, overlayed interacted region. This paper aims address mentioned develop an integrated framework quantify compound flood risk. The constructed on components disaster assessment, i.e. hazard, vulnerability exposure analysis. In analysis, joint return period distributions estimated using Copula functions with dependency which then used generate random events drive 2D high-performance hydrodynamic model produce probabilistic inundation maps frequency-inundation curves. Vulnerability provides damage elements at risk, applied Greater London its downstream Thames estuary demonstrate capability analyse interactions inter-dependencies results such as curves quantifying loss illustrating annual expected residential buildings.

HAZARD I: Software for Fire Hazard Assessment

NIST Handbook 146, HAZARD I—Fire Hazard Assessment Method [1], represents the culmination of a long-term program aimed at placing the prediction of fire outcomes on an objective and scientific basis. In the 1970s, NIST supported Harvard University to develop numerical models that could predict the temperature in a room containing a fire. These early models were difficult to use and interpret; r...

Assessment of desertification hazard, risk and development of management plans

About 80 percent of Iran is arid and semi-arid and about 35 percent of this area is susceptible to desertification hazard. Therefore desertification assessment and identification of the most important criteria for the assessment of risk and a basis for development of management plans is essential. This research was conducted in the semi-arid region of Agh-Band in the Golestan province, Iran wit...

Hazard/Risk Assessment HAZARD ASSESSMENT OF TEMEPHOS APPLIED TO A SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, USA, SALT MARSH COMMUNITY

This investigation was undertaken to determine whether the mosquito larvicide temephos (applied as Abate 4-Et) created an environmental hazard for nontarget organisms in a southwest Florida salt marsh community. Field toxicity tests were performed during routine larvicide applications using larvae of salt marsh crabs (Aratus pesonii and Uca rapax) and adult Mysidopsis bahia. Laboratory toxicity...
